Hey there, I'm Steve, one of the Directors here at HSL. Let me give you a glimpse into who I am and what I bring to our dynamic team.
Role and Responsibilities:
In addition to overseeing the general directorial duties, which encompass vital areas like payroll and finance, my role involves steering the ship in various capacities.
Professional Background:
My journey began with a rigorous five-year Indentured Apprenticeship, culminating in the attainment of an ONC in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Building on this foundation, I pursued an HNC in both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, as well as in Business Studies. Early on, I cut my teeth in the energy sector, working on conventional and nuclear power stations, including significant contributions to the Sizewell B Power Station Public Enquiry. My foray into recruitment commenced in 1989, and within a year, I was sought after to spearhead a recruitment agency in London. It was in 1998 that Jayne and I ventured into our own business, an endeavour that has been FIRP accredited and thrived for 25 years.
Skills and Expertise:
With a meticulous and organised approach, I bring to the table a wealth of experience spanning various industries, with a notable 35-year stint in recruitment.
Passions and Interests:
Outside the office, I relish quality family time and indulge in one of my true joys: sports. From the high-speed thrills of F1 to the heart-pounding excitement of football, you'll often find me tuned in. I’m a zealous Mercedes fan and supporter of Lewis Hamilton.
Achievements or Contributions:
One of the standout moments in my career was being deeply involved in the Sizewell B Public Enquiry. Additionally, Jayne and I take immense pride in nurturing and sustaining our own business for a quarter-century.
Team Collaboration:
Fostering a collaborative environment is at the heart of how I operate. Drawing out the best from each team member and infusing a sense of enjoyment into our workdays is something I find immensely rewarding.
Personal Statement:
In my approach, I believe in leading by example. Hard work and dedication are non-negotiables and I manage my team as I would like to be managed. The company's mission is a testament to our own creation, a fact that I hold dear.
